Expat Management Group
Dominique Coenen is one of the founding partners of the Expat Management Group (EMG), an international legal immigration firm, established in 2014 in Amsterdam.
Prior to the founding of EMG, Dominique worked at (and eventually headed) the Netherlands department of an international immigration law firm for many years in Brussels, primarily focusing on corporate immigration law.
Like no other, Dominique and his team of legal professionals are able to integrate legal immigration advice, providing solutions by which the clients’ business needs can seamlessly coincide with Dutch immigration rules and regulations. By partnering up with the client and managing their expectations right from the start, the EMG team is able to provide a tailored immigration advice in each and every move.
Dominique assists corporate clients in a wide range of sectors and sizes who need to (temporarily) move their foreign staff to their offices in the Netherlands or would like to attract new employees from outside the EU. Next to securing the actual immigration and work authorization paperwork, Dominique advises his clients on how to implement and efficient and standardized immigration policy. He thereby makes sure that his clients are fully compliant with Dutch immigration regulations and prepares his clients for potential audits as well.
What sets Dominique and his team apart from other immigration service providers is his profound knowledge in corporate immigration law and his ability to successfully integrate these into best practices advice to the clients. His company has the solid base of a large firm and at the same time offers the flexibility of a smaller enterprise. Their experience combined with their flexibility and commitment allows them to provide proactive, effective, efficient service, thereby offering the quality and experience of a large firm, with the attention of a boutique firm.
Another very strong asset of EMG is the ability to advice beyond the Dutch national regulations and include EU law and Schengen regulations to the benefit of his clients when meeting their urgent business demands.
In addition to the corporate immigration practice, Dominique and his team also have a profound background in assisting (US, Japanese, Turkish and other) entrepreneurs in securing Dutch residence permits as a self-employed person. Moreover, Dominique’s firm is one of the very few offices in the Netherlands that have been able to successfully assist foreign High Net Worth Individuals with securing Dutch residence permits as investors (a Dutch immigration application category, rarely being offered by service providers in the Netherlands due to the complexity of each case).
Finally, for international immigration services outside the Netherlands, the immigration team at EMG also manages the moves of employees going abroad (leaving the Netherlands) and effectively coordinate immigration processes of these employees and families over 80 countries across the globe. In this respect, EMG operates with law firms in significant jurisdictions, including the EU Member States, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, South Africa, India, China and Australia. By coordinating this network, EMG can offer its clients comprehensive support with requests that involve crossover between different jurisdictions.
