As a Dutch VAT specialist Mr. B.W. (Bas) Sonneveldt has close to 20 years of experience in (international) VAT, both as an adviser at the Big 4 in Rotterdam, Brussels and Silicon Valley and as the in-house global senior VAT advisor at Amgen Pharmaceuticals in Breda.
In 2016 Bas Sonneveldt founded Sonneveldt VAT Solutions, an independent boutique VAT consulting and compliance firm specializing in Dutch and European VAT. Bas advises a wide range of customers who are dealing with Dutch VAT issues in the areas of Cross border supplies of goods, international supplied services, Real Estate & Immovable Property, the reclaim of Dutch VAT charged to non-Dutch companies, import VAT exemption & fiscal representation, Mergers & Acquisitions, VAT Grouping/ Fiscal Unity for VAT, etc.
In addition, Bas Sonneveldt has extensive experience as a VAT compliance specialist managing Dutch and European VAT return filings in house and for various customers.
During a secondment from 2007 till 2010 in San José, Silicon Valley California Bas Sonneveldt guided various US companies on their way to Europe setting up their VAT registrations, Fiscal Representations and import VAT exemptions in the Netherlands and other EU member states.
Bas Sonneveldt is an enthusiastic tax advisor who is passionate in helping and assisting his clients on all kinds of issues related to indirect taxes. With his in house experience he is very well able to translate the complicated European VAT rules into practical and to the point business advice and processes.
Bas experience also includes performing Dutch VAT opinions, VAT reviews, VAT training, discussing / negotiating VAT issues with the Dutch tax authorities, as well as with in-house financial controllers, developing indirect tax strategies and implementing VAT processes.
The Netherlands have a unique regime for companies importing goods into the Netherlands free of import VAT. Bas assisted various international clients setting up a ‘cash flow friendly’ supply chain of products for the European market via the Netherlands.
